Stick To the Script (Part 2)

And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak 2 Corinthians 4:13 (NKJV)

The word spirit may be better understood if we used the word attitude. The word attitude

The word attitude does not simply have a negative context, but in its most original definition it really has to do with taking a certain position on a particular topic. Attitude in this particular context means manner, disposition, or position; tendency or orientation, especially of the mind.

The scripture mentioned above reflects a psalm written by King David. This lets us know that it is impossible that the term “spirit” was in relation to our born-again spirit because King David was never born again. So II Corinthians 4:13 could be translated it like this: “And since we have the same attitude of faith according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak.

We can look at the attitude of David, his trust in the word of God and all the promises of the Covenant. One of the first places our confidence in what God has said shows up in our speech.

David spoke to the giant in his life in accordance to his covenant rights, not his personal strength or abilities.Your resilience to speak is the catalyst to your breakthrough. The person who will not change their confession will obtain their possession.

I often reflect on the woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5. In my personal opinion, she is one of the greatest overcomers in the Bible. According to the Mosaic law, she was not even supposed to be outside. However hearing of Jesus created a boldness that could not be denied. I believe that after hearing of the great miracles that He had performed there was no doubt in her mind that this man had to be the sun of righteousness. According to the prophecy of Malachi, “but to you who fear My name the Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings…” Malachi 4:2 (NKJV)

She didn’t say it once, the Bible says she kept saying…”For she kept saying, If I only touch His garments, I shall be restored to health.”  Mark 5:28 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)

I am also inspired by the tenacity of Bartimaeus, a blind man sitting along the road near the city of Jericho. Again, once he found out who was coming, he would not be denied. The people around him tell him to keep his voice down but the Scriptures say that he cried out all the more (Mark 10:52)

That is the spirit or attitude of faith.

Faith doesn’t back down due to pressure or negative circumstances. Don’t change your confession of faith. I leave you with the following thought today:
