SEEing the NEW You – Righteous 2

And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. Romans 6:13 (NKJV)

You can never give a duty to someone without the power to execute it. Every believer has the duty and power to live in righteousness.

In the passage above we see that our members or bodies are referred to as instruments. An instrument is a tool by which work is performed or anything is affected. Why are we referred to as instruments? God intends to use our bodies in the earth to affect change. If we make ourselves available for unrighteousness we will continue to live a life of sin. If we are living a life of sin, it is just like we have not been changed and the WORD of God considers us dead. However if we are willing to yield ourselves to God He recognizes us as alive and instruments of righteousness.

God gave us the power of free will. Even though we have verbally committed to His Lordship we must now be willing to submit our actions, conduct, and behavior to His Lordship. When we refuse to submit our behavior to his Lordship we are considered dead, when we have behavior and actions of righteousness we are considered alive.

So what must you do to ensure that you are living a life of righteousness?

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2 (NKJV)

Simply put, you must change the way you think. What has to change? You must change the way you SEE life and that is only possible through the WORD of God. The world has a system of thinking and God has a completely different system of thinking. Your mind has been programmed throughout your entire life to conform to the world’s system. We have been raised to believe things that contradict the word of God. Here are some examples:

“You cannot help who you love.”

“The rich keep getting rich and the poor keep getting poorer”

“You can be whoever you want to be.”

At first glance, these statements may seem like theory loaded with truth. However when you compare them with the WORD of God, nothing could be farther from the truth. God has already defined love, has already established a plan to provide for you, and He has already designed a plan for your life.

The most important thing after becoming born-again is to renew your mind. You have been made brand-new on the inside but now you must learn how to become brand-new on the outside. First, you must see yourself brand-new (born-again and sin free). Secondly, you must learn what the word of God says about you and begin to live accordingly.

  1. I LOVE this Word! I AM THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD! I submit myself to You Lord, Spirit, soul and body. I strip myself of my old, unrenewed self and put on the new nature! I separate myself from the pollution of this world! The desire of my heart is to be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, fit for the Masters use and prepared for every good work! I submit myself to You! Holy and acceptable!
