Can You SEE what God is saying?
22 that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, 23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth. Ephesians 4:22-24 New American Standard Bible
There are two aspects of being righteous. First, you must become righteous by accepting Jesus as the Lord of your life. Righteous is your new status in Christ Jesus which gives us right standing with God. No guilt. No shame. No barriers between you and God. Then there is righteousness. Righteousness is the corresponding conduct of the righteous. I can never state the following statement enough: God did not save you to live the same way you did before you accepted the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
Notice the instruction in scripture above says, “….you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit.” It’s your job to lay it aside. Think of it like having a hard day of yard work. It’s hot and humid; all your clothes are saturated with sweat and dirt. Would you take a bath with them or lay them aside? So why would you take the dirt and stench of sin forward into the NEW life?
We must begin to take to heart what the apostle James wrote in his letter to the church at large. So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls. James 1:21 New Living Translation (NLT). Jesus Christ has dealt with the sin nature; it is now our responsibility to get rid of the sin habits. This can only be done by knowing, believing and doing what the WORD of God says.
You are the secondary catalyst to a transformed life. Jesus has done what you could not do (save you from the nature of sin), now you must do the part He will not do (change your thinking and actions).
As you begin to trust the WORD of God more than your experiences and your emotions, the victory that the WORD of God promises will become reality to you. When you confidently walk in your righteousness you will take hold of your blood-purchased rights as a believer. You have a right to be healed. You have a right to be delivered. You have a right to be wealthy. You have a right to the wisdom of God. You have a right to be forgiven of your sins. You have a right to live in victory!!
Make this declaration of faith today:
I AM righteous and I live righteously. My conduct always pleases God!!
Today, SEE yourself as RIGHTEOUS!!
