SEEing Him As Your Only Source

View Point

Can You SEE what God is saying?

God wants to be the source of your ENTIRE life. He cares about the big things and as well as the small things you don’t give a second thought to. I believe God most spends most of a person’s lifetime trying to teach them to rely completely on Him.

The prophet Jeremiah received a Word from God regarding the people of Judah. It was not good news. God’s chief complaint was His covenant people entreating other “gods” and things for their provision (see Jeremiah 17: 1-4).  God makes His point clear that He CANNOT be a source, He has to be the ONLY source.

This is what the Lord says: “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the Lord. They are like stunted shrubs in the desert, with no hope for the future. They will live in the barren wilderness, in an uninhabited salty land. Jeremiah 17:5-8 New Living Translation (NLT)

This is not my opinion or interpretation: God says you are cursed when you trust in other people. He is not talking about your spouse, your best friends, or mentors. God is referring to placing your reliance in people. God reserves the responsibility of your provision to Himself and no one else.

I heard a ministry leader say this once, “Whoever you turn to first when you are in trouble is your real God” You see, you may not bow down to them or pray to them, but if their voice, influence, or power has more sway than the voice, influence, or power of God…you are in real trouble.

God says people that give other people this much influence in their lives, will always end up in a place of lack. A cursed person is always chasing their own provision. They may think that they have a lot of wealth based on their bank accounts or financial portfolio. It is all destined to fail when you trust in it and people more than you trust God. There is NOTHING wrong with having a lot of money, just make sure it doesn’t have you.

If you have ever been to a true desert, you will notice there are not many trees. The trees you encounter will often not be taller than most people. I have flown over the Great Salt Lake of Utah and there is not much to see. All the trees in the area are really shrubs. They did not appear to thrive; at best they are doing their best to survive. Never pursue the provisions, pursue the Provider. He will ensure that you have all you need. God is your source and your job is your resource. Your job is a tool that God uses to develop your skills and gifts. You can lose your job today, but God will still be there.

Make Him Your Source Today.

  1. Amen!!! We must understand that the enemy (the one whose whole motivation is to harm me) is using every fiber of his influence to get us to look to anything other than God as our source. The devil provides a variety of ways to destruction, but God in His infinite wisdom provided us one way to everlasting life. There is no confusion. We don’t have to guess or tally the possible results. God made it so the best life could possibly be is found in Him being our one, only, single, and solitary source. I looked up the definition of solitary and one of the synonyms is unaccompanied! God is our unaccompanied source!!! He stands alone without equal or partner as our source! The only help He needs is our commitment. Our commitment coupled with Him as our source equals the manifested accomplishment of our wildest dreams! In fact, it also equals the manifested accomplishment of His wildest dreams!!! Glory to God!! Great post!
